Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • Fresh strawberries, for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a bowl, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Gradually add the flour until a dough forms. Press into a tart pan and chill in the fridge for 15 minutes.
  2. Bake for 20 minutes until golden brown, then cool on a wire rack.
  3. In a saucepan, heat the milk and vanilla until just below boiling. In another bowl, whisk the egg yolks with sugar. Gradually add the hot milk, whisking continuously, and return to the saucepan.
  4. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thickened (about 5-7 minutes). Strain into a bowl and let cool.
  5. Pour the custard into the baked tart shell and top with fresh strawberries. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours to set.
  6. Slice and serve chilled, garnished as desired.
