Description

Delightful Korean rice cakes with a perfect blend of chewiness and sweetness, enhanced by a rich soy butter sauce.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups Sweet Rice Flour (Glutinous Rice Flour)
  • 1 cup Water
  • 2 tablespoons Butter (unsalted)
  • 2 tablespoons Soy Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame Oil
  • Cornstarch (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine sweet rice flour and water; stir until smooth.
  2. Transfer the batter to a heatproof dish and steam for 20-25 minutes until set.
  3. Let the rice cake cool for about 10 minutes.
  4. In a saucepan, melt butter and mix in soy sauce, sugar, and sesame oil.
  5. Slice the cooled rice cake and coat with the soy butter sauce.
  6. Plate and serve warm, optionally sprinkling with sesame seeds.

Notes

For a vegan option, substitute butter with coconut oil and sugar with maple syrup or agave.
