Description
A simple yet indulgent dish featuring chicken breasts smothered in a rich basil cream sauce topped with gooey mozzarella.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 skinless, boneless chicken breasts
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup fresh basil, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper and let them sit for about 5 minutes.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat and cook the chicken for 6-7 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
- Add minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
- Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Add chopped basil and grated Parmesan, stirring until melted and slightly thickened (3-5 minutes).
- Return the chicken to the skillet, spoon sauce over, and top with mozzarella. Cover and cook for a couple more minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve hot, garnished with additional basil, with pasta, rice, or crusty bread.
Notes
For a lighter option, substitute half-and-half for the heavy cream.
