Description

A simple yet indulgent dish featuring chicken breasts smothered in a rich basil cream sauce topped with gooey mozzarella.


Ingredients

  • 4 skinless, boneless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper and let them sit for about 5 minutes.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat and cook the chicken for 6-7 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  3. Add minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
  4. Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Add chopped basil and grated Parmesan, stirring until melted and slightly thickened (3-5 minutes).
  5. Return the chicken to the skillet, spoon sauce over, and top with mozzarella. Cover and cook for a couple more minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with additional basil, with pasta, rice, or crusty bread.

Notes

For a lighter option, substitute half-and-half for the heavy cream.
