A hearty casserole that blends all the beloved elements of a meat-laden pizza into a satisfying dish.


Ingredients

  • Small pasta shapes (penne or rotini)
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb Italian sausage
  • 1 cup pepperoni
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups pizza sauce
  • 1 cup chopped bell peppers
  • 1 cup chopped onions
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large pot, boil water and cook the pasta until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and Italian sausage over medium heat for 7-10 minutes.
  4. Toss in the chopped onions and bell peppers, sauté for an additional 5 minutes.
  5. Add minced garlic, Italian seasoning, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  6. Stir in the pizza sauce and simmer for 3-5 minutes.
  7. In a large mixing bowl, combine the drained pasta with the meat and sauce mixture. Fold in half of the mozzarella and cheddar cheese.
  8. Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  9. Sprinkle remaining cheese over the top.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

Notes

For a healthier twist, opt for whole wheat or gluten-free pasta, and consider using turkey sausage or low-fat cheese.
