- 1 lb ground beef
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup milk
- 4 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 cups beef broth
- 1 cup carrots, chopped
- 1 cup peas
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix milk and melted butter, then combine with dry ingredients.
- Roll dough into 1-inch balls and set aside.
- In a large pot, brown the ground beef over medium heat, breaking it apart.
- Stir in chopped onion and garlic, cooking until tender.
- Add beef broth, black pepper, and optional herbs; bring to a low boil.
- Add carrots and peas; simmer for 5 minutes.
- Drop dumplings into the pot, cover, and reduce heat to low. Do not lift the lid for 15 minutes.
- Check if dumplings are firm and puffed; serve when ready.
