Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup carrots, chopped
  • 1 cup peas

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, mix milk and melted butter, then combine with dry ingredients.
  3. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and set aside.
  4. In a large pot, brown the ground beef over medium heat, breaking it apart.
  5. Stir in chopped onion and garlic, cooking until tender.
  6. Add beef broth, black pepper, and optional herbs; bring to a low boil.
  7. Add carrots and peas; simmer for 5 minutes.
  8. Drop dumplings into the pot, cover, and reduce heat to low. Do not lift the lid for 15 minutes.
  9. Check if dumplings are firm and puffed; serve when ready.
