Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease an 8×8-inch baking dish with coconut oil or line it with parchment paper.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the almond flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, and nutmeg, whisk together until smooth.
  4. In another bowl, mix the maple syrup, melted coconut oil, and applesauce until well blended.
  5. Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture and stir until just combined.
  6. Fold in the dark chocolate chips if using.
  7. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Let the brownies cool in the pan for at least 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Be careful not to overmix the batter or cut the brownies too soon after baking.
