  • Author: Alice Wellington
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 10 fritters 1x

Description

These crispy air fryer apple fritters are soft, fluffy, and filled with cinnamon-spiced apple chunks — then finished with a rich brown butter glaze. They taste like fall in every bite and come together effortlessly in your air fryer, no deep frying required!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Fritters:

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

1 ½ teaspoons baking powder

½ teaspoon cinnamon

¼ teaspoon salt

1 large egg

⅓ cup milk (any type)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 tablespoon melted butter

1 cup peeled, diced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)

Cooking spray or light oil mist

For the Brown Butter Glaze:

3 tablespoons unsalted butter

1 cup powdered sugar

12 tablespoons milk

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Pinch of salt

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 5 minutes. Line the basket with parchment paper or an air fryer liner.

  • Mix dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.

  • Combine wet ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together egg, milk, vanilla, and melted butter. Pour wet ingredients into dry and mix until just combined.

  • Fold in apples until evenly coated. The batter should be thick but scoopable.

  • Scoop & air fry: Drop spoonfuls (about 2 tablespoons each) onto the parchment-lined basket. Air fry 5–6 minutes, flip, and cook another 4–5 minutes until golden brown.

  • Make the glaze: Brown the butter in a saucepan over medium heat until golden and nutty. Remove from heat and whisk in powdered sugar, vanilla, milk, and salt until smooth.

  • Glaze the fritters: Drizzle warm glaze over freshly cooked fritters. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

Apple choices: Granny Smith gives a tart pop, while Honeycrisp adds sweetness.

Storage: Keep in an airtight container for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to 4. Reheat in the air fryer for 2–3 minutes before serving.

Freezer-friendly: Freeze unfrosted fritters in a single layer, then reheat and glaze before serving.

Variations: Try swapping apples for diced pears or adding chopped nuts for extra crunch.
