Description

Delightful Cherry Danish pastry with a flaky crust and sweet cherry filling.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter, cubed
  • 1/4 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 packet Instant Yeast
  • 1/2 cup Milk (whole or dairy-free)
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 cup Cherries, pitted
  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract

Instructions

  1. Mix flour, sugar, and yeast in a bowl; add butter and rub in until coarse crumbs form.
  2. Combine milk and egg, then mix with the dry ingredients until a sticky dough forms.
  3. Wrap dough in plastic and chill for 20 minutes.
  4. Prepare cherry filling: Cook cherries with sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla until thickened; cool.
  5. Roll out chilled dough to 1/4 inch thick; cut into squares.
  6. Spoon cherry filling onto squares, fold corners to the center, and pinch seals.
  7. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden.
  8. Cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For a vegan version, use flaxseed egg or aquafaba and coconut oil instead of butter.
